In the early 1930's, letters began arriving in the small Italian city of Verona addressed simply to 'Juliet of Verona'. Not knowing what to do, the postman delivered the letters to Juliet's tomb, where a sympathetic caretaker began replying on Juliet's behalf.
Today, Romeo and Juliet are a full blown industry in Verona, with thousands of tourists visiting each year to gaze at Juliet's window, buy souveniers, or simply lay their hand on the breast of Juliet's statue.
DEAR JULIET tells the touching story of the five thousand letters received each year from people all over the world who don't make the trip to Verona, and of 'the seven Juliets of Verona' who respond to each and every one of their letters.
